The Swedish Defence University establishes the Alumnus of the Year award

Starting in 2023, the Swedish Defence University will appoint Alumnus of the Year. The award is established to recognize former students' successful careers and their contributions to society.

The Alumnus of the Year award is awarded annually to 1-2 alumni.

Nominations for Alumnus of the Year 2023 are currently open. We need your nomination by June 15th.

Criteria for nomination

In order to be nominated, the person must meet one of these criteria:

• Completed higher military education (HOP, HSU, SU, TSK, Chiefs Programme or equivalent)
• Have at least 60 credits from the Swedish Defence University
• Have a degree from the Swedish Defence University

Who can nominate?

Alumni, current students and participants in commissioned education, employees and others with a connection to the Swedish Defence University may nominate persons for Alumnus of the Year. A jury led by the Vice-Chancellor selects the winner/s.

What should the alumnus have done?

To be considered for the award, the alumnus must have made something distinctive in their contribution to society or the defence and security sector or have made an interesting career, be a role model for current students or have contributed to the university's development.
