The Swedish Defence University establish BYOD exams from the autumn semester 2025

From the autumn semester of 2025, the BYOD exam will be established as a new form of examination at the Swedish Defence University. A BYOD exam means that students write a digital written exam in the Inspera system on their own laptop.

For you as a student, this means that you are responsible for ensuring that your computer is prepared for a BYOD exam.

The introduction of BYOD exams will not replace existing forms of examination such as digital written exams at KI or analogue written exams. You can see in TimeEdit what type of exam you are going to write.

BYOD projects in 2024 - 2025

During the spring semester of 2024 until the spring semester of 2025, the Swedish Defence University has carried out a project with the BYOD exam with several student groups. The project has been evaluated with good results and is considered to enable more courses to carry out digital exams, which is in line with a growing demand for digital examinations in higher education.
