Tactical and Ethical Aspects of Autonomous Systems

People have always strived for waging war at distance to reduce risk. A consequence of this ambition is the development of autonomous systems — defence systems with the ability to act on their own. This course gives you a deeper understanding for ethical and operational aspects of the use and design of autonomous systems for defence and security.

The course addresses existing and future autonomous military systems and general ethical and operational aspects related to them.

Describe and analyse from a scientific and critical perspective

After completing the course, you will be able to describe and categorise ethical and operational aspects of autonomous systems, as well as analyse and argue for different viewpoints on the topics of the course from a scientific and critical perspective.

The course will be conducted in the form of lectures and seminars. The structure is intended to facilitate distance studies.
