How has Ukraine adapted its air defence to new and rapidly evolving threats? Join us for a screening of the Ukrainian documentary Closing the Sky, followed by a discussion with the film’s director and Ukrainian defence experts.

Closing the Sky is a 60-minute documentary produced by the Ukrainian organisation Come Back Alive. The film explores how, since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, Ukraine has developed new methods to protect cities and critical infrastructure against increasingly sophisticated threats from the air.

Among the topics covered are modern air defence, the rapid development and use of drones, and how military organisations and other actors need to adapt to new technologies and evolving threats.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A lasting approximately 30–40 minutes, featuring representatives from the organisation Come Back Alive.

Participants:

  • Danylo Shynhelskyi, veteran and military expert on air defence and drone technology
  • Volodymyr Pashchuk, director of Closing the Sky
  • Valeriia Soloviova and Diana Vus, International Partnerships Officers at Come Back Alive
