Engelsk beskrivning om dig själv
Lecturer in War Studies, specialising in Game-Based Learning

Ulrika Bennerstedt holds a PhD in Education and is a Senior Lecturer at the Swedish Defence University, Department of War Studies, as well as a member of the Centre for Wargaming (CKS). Her research focuses on learning, decision-making, leadership, and organizing in professional practices. Using conversation- and interaction-analytic methods, she examines how knowledge, responsibility, coordination, and decisions are shaped in workplace meetings and organizational settings in which professionals need to develop shared understanding and collective capacity for action.

A central area of her research concerns wargaming and military exercises as arenas for decision-making, learning, and knowledge development. Her work focuses particularly on how participants build situational understanding, coordinate action, and make decisions under conditions of uncertainty, and on how game organization, facilitation, and design shape these processes. This includes wargaming for both educational and analytical purposes.

In her current research, she primarily studies educational wargaming and military exercises through empirical analyses of interaction, facilitation, and decision-making. Together with Björn Sjöblom, she has published a review of empirical research on learning in educational wargaming. She also participates in a Forte-funded research project on digital welfare technology, leadership, and organizing in health and social care.
