Marcel Mangold joined the Swedish Defence University in March 2020 as an Associate Senior Lecturer in War Studies and became a Senior Lecturer in 2024. Marcel is currently researching defense build-ups in Sweden and Taiwan. His research explores organizational culture and change in modern armed forces and total defense, as well as relations among civil society and defense, with a theoretical interest in aesthetics, culture and embodied experiences. In 2024, Marcel held a Taiwan Fellowship.
Before becoming a war studies scholar, Marcel published several political scientific publications that explored embodied experiences and emotions in democratic politics. Marcel obtained his Ph.D. in political science at Södertörn University College in 2018.
