Commissioned Research for crisis management and the Swedish total defence

The Swedish Defence University conducts research, analysis support and education in crisis preparedness and the total defence, terrorism, violent extremism, influence operations, cyber security/cyber defence, civil defence and intelligence.

The analysis support in crisis preparedness and total defence includes advice and methodological support to the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) and the Swedish Armed Forces for planning for the Total Defence Exercise 2020, and conducting evaluations of various actors' crisis management during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The requests come from the County Administrative Board of Dalarna County, the County Administrative Board of Stockholm County and the City of Stockholm. Other major work has been done for The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, the Parliament Administration, the City of Gothenburg, the County Administrative Board of Gotland and the Gotland Regiment, among others.

The Swedish Defence University also conducts research, studies and analytical support on terrorism, violent extremism, influence operations, cyber security/cyber defence, civil defence and intelligence issues. During the year, SEDU conducted such research and analytical support for, among others, the Government Offices, MSB and the Radiation Safety Authority. Throughout the year, the Swedish Defence University also provided support to the EU Radicalisation Awareness Network - Centre of Excellence, and the Centre of Excellence for Hybrid Threats in Helsinki.
